Haute Route Chamonix-Zermatt 6 days
Between Chamonix and Zermatt lies a true alpine classic that is a must-do! We travel across glaciers and up through passes with magnificent views. We stay in cabins up in the mountains, where three-course dinners and breakfast are served. The entire trip normally takes seven days, but can be shortened if desired.
Day 1 Chamonix
Meet in Chamonix in the afternoon, go through the week's schedule, and arrange equipment.
Day 2 Argentiere – Trient hut
We take the lift in Grand Montes and cross the glaciers to Cabane de Trient.
Day 3 Trient hut – Prafleuri hut
From Trient hut, we descend to Champex, located at 1,470 meters above sea level, which is simply a great start to the day. Then we drive over to Verbier. From Verbier, we take the lift, use skins, and ski to Prafleuri hut.
Day 4 Prafleuri – Dix hut
Up to Col de Roux (2,804 m) and down to La Barma, then along Lac des Dix before arriving at Dix hut.
Day 5 Dix hut – Vignettes hut
During the day, we will aim for Pigne d'Arolla, almost 3,800 meters high, before descending to the Vignettes hut.
Day 6 Vignettes Hut – Bertol Hut
By now, your legs may be starting to feel a little tired, so we will decide on the spot which route to take to the Bertol Hut. But if your legs are still feeling strong, it is also possible to continue all the way to Zermatt if you wish.
Day 7 Bertol hut – Zermatt
Large glaciers, big mountains, and steep descents sum up this day. We also have time to climb Tete Blanche at 3,800 meters if we want to. In the afternoon, we return to Chamonix.
