Skiing in Chamonix is difficult to compare with other resorts; the mountains and vertical drop are greater, and the whole area exudes adventure, offering endless possibilities.

During a week of off-piste skiing in Chamonix, we ski from Aiguille du Midi, Grands Monters, and if we switch sides of the massif, we end up in Italy and Courmayeur. It all depends on what we want to do, the weather, and the conditions. If we want, we use climbing skins to get to better untouched snow.

Although Chamonix is the largest and steepest, there are gentle runs here to suit everyone, and the most classic is Vallée Blanche up from Aiguille du Midi.

If you want to hike longer distances to get further away from the ski lifts, there are a couple of hundred trails to choose from.

Quite simply, Chamonix deserves its place as the world's best ski resort.
