Multi-week Ski Tour/Heli/Lift
The area south of Abisko is a fantastic place to combine heliskiing and ski touring, with the season running from early March to early June. When the snow melts in the valleys and the cabins and mountain stations close for the season, skiing is often at its best in the area between Abisko and Kebnekaise. Many mountain stations and cabins close in early May, so the tour may be changed depending on the availability of accommodation for the dates in question.
Program:
Day 1: Arrival in Abisko, check-in at Abisko Mountain Lodge, and dinner together in the evening.
Day 2: Basic avalanche training/exercise, heliskiing on the way down to Stf's cabin in Nallo, 3-5 lifts.
Day 3: Summit hike on Sielmatjåkka, 2004 meters above sea level, a true classic in this area.
Day 4: Jojo trail to Stf's cabin in Tarfala, a very good day with three nice downhill runs.
Day 5: Summit hike on Kaskasetjåkka, 2076 meters above sea level. Sweden's fourth highest mountain and perhaps the mountain with the most beautiful view.
Day 6: Helicopter and summit trip to Låktatjåkka mountain station and after lunch we take a short summit trip to the top of Loktacohkka and ski down to Kopparåsen where we get a ride back to Abisko. We stay again at Abisko Mountain Lodge.
Day 7: Lift skiing in Riksgränsen, snowmobile tour, or sea fishing. But it is also a reserve day if we did not succeed with heliskiing on day 2. Return home in the afternoon.
The weekly program above is a suggestion and may be subject to change depending on conditions on the mountain, which cabins we have access to, and the preferences of the group.
