Rock climbing course

Bergsresor organizes climbing courses that comply with the Swedish Climbing Association's standards. Equipment is available to borrow for all courses, but bring your own equipment if you have it and want to use it.

We organize courses throughout Sweden and Norway. Some options are Gothenburg, Bohuslän, Nyköping, Stockholm, Sundsvall, Högakusten, Östersund, Åre, and Kebnekaise. If you are more interested in visiting northern Norway, I recommend Lofoten, Narvik, or Tysfjord. We can also go to the Alps if you prefer. Just let us know, and we will decide on a suitable location. Climbing is often closer than you think.

Basic rock climbing course, 2 days:

You don't need any previous climbing experience to take the basic rock climbing course, but if you've been climbing for a while without taking a course, I recommend that you take this course anyway so that you can feel confident about climbing, knowing that you're making the right decisions. The course will be adapted to your level of knowledge, so if you have climbed before, we will cover more material. The sections below are some of the things we will go through.

Course components: Equipment, movement techniques, knots, belaying, safety techniques, top rope climbing, rope climbing, abseiling, and much more.

Course objective: You should be able to climb your local mountain safely with a partner who has the same level of knowledge as you.

Price: SEK 4,000/person, 2-4 participants/instructor.

Advanced rock climbing course, 2 days:

The advanced course focuses heavily on your previous climbing experience and is tailored accordingly. We will discuss what you want to get out of the course before deciding on the program.

After completing the course, you will be able to: Climb multi-pitch routes using your own belay devices. Abseil down from a multi-pitch route, use double ropes, clog, and use different belay methods at belay stations. Streamline your previous climbing knowledge.

Rescue courses 1 and 2, 1-2 days:

I recommend the rescue course to anyone who has taken the advanced course or has equivalent knowledge. The course does not involve much climbing, but you will feel more confident and secure in how the equipment and knots work. There is a lot of fiddling with knots and many different rescue scenarios. Rescue courses 1 and 2 can be taken separately, one day each at different times, but I recommend taking both courses in succession over two days.

Course content: Getting out of the system, rope climbing, rappelling past knots on damaged rope, balance/counterweight rappelling, multiple rappelling with damaged rope, rescuing the first/second person, building an auxiliary hoist, 3:1 and 6:1 hoists.

Aid course 2 days:

Before taking this course, you should be familiar with the elements covered in the above courses. Aid climbing is a craft in vertical climbing, and after completing the course, you will know the basics, but it will take a lot of practice before you have honed the elements to suit you.
