Narvik

Ski touring, lift-assisted off-piste skiing, cabin nights – what would you like to do?

If you take the train from southern Sweden, you can arrive in Narvik ready to ski in Narvik by lunchtime the next day. We will meet at the train station and go directly to the ski lift for a few runs, an avalanche briefing, and finish with an easy summit tour from the lift to Tredjetoppen and a 1,200-meter drop down to the village. The remaining days will be spent on summit tours in the area from Stetind in the south to Spanstind in the north. What makes Narvik unique, unlike many other places in Norway, is that we have both an inland climate and a maritime climate. If it is a little too warm by the sea, we drive a few miles inland, where it is often several degrees cooler. Conversely, if it is a little too cold in the east, we go on tours closer to the sea. We also have the option of staying overnight in a cabin in the mountains if you wish.

Program:

Day 1: Arrive in Narvik at lunchtime and go skiing in the afternoon.

Days 2-5: Off-piste skiing on Narvik Mountain or a suitable summit tour in the area, and possibly one or two nights in a cabin.

Day 6: Summit hike in the morning and return to the village at 2 p.m. to pack up before the train heads back south.

The weekly program above is a suggestion and may be changed depending on conditions on the mountain and the wishes of the group.
